Madrid, August 11, 2026 – TVU Networks’ platform will be used for the live broadcast of the solar eclipse that Iberia will air on August 12.
Iberia will broadcast live, across its social media channels and national and international media outlets, the total solar eclipse of August 12, from the special flight the company has organized to observe the phenomenon at an altitude of more than 10,000 meters. The broadcast is made possible by Starlink technology together with transmission technology from TVU Networks, a global provider of IP-based live video contribution and distribution, using a TVU One unit installed on board the aircraft and TVU Networks’ cloud distribution platform, TVU MediaHub.
Creative direction and technical production of the signal are handled by El Sótano Doc, in collaboration with Golden News Media, which manages connectivity and distributes the signal to additional national and international media outlets. The TVU One unit transmits multi-camera footage of the eclipse using the high-speed Starlink connectivity that Iberia is progressively rolling out across its fleet. The signal then travels to TVU MediaHub, from where it is redistributed simultaneously to more than 100 receivers worldwide, each able to select its preferred reception format — SRT or TVU Grid (ISSP) — as easily as a standard TVU reception.
The onboard production will use four cameras mounted at the windows of the A321 XLR. The eclipse will be visible between 17:13 and 18:49 GMT.

The total solar eclipse of August 12 will be the first visible from the Iberian Peninsula since 1912, though the last eclipse of similar characteristics occurred on August 30, 1905 — making this an astronomical event of particular significance. The phenomenon occurs when the Sun, Moon, and Earth align so that the Moon completely blocks the solar disk as seen from certain points on Earth’s surface.
