The five-day international cycling race brought together top domestic and international cyclists and presented exceptional challenges for live broadcast production.
As a large-scale multi-regional tour event, the Pune Grand Tour presented multiple technical challenges for live broadcast:
The race route spanned multiple regions with complex and varied terrain, requiring seamless coordination between ground-based mobile coverage, aerial shots, and fixed camera positions. The production team needed to solve critical issues including signal transmission stability in mobile scenarios, real-time management and distribution of multiple feeds, and synchronized delivery of high-quality content to multiple domestic and international broadcast platforms.
After comprehensive technical evaluation and field verification, the production team deployed TVU’s integrated solution:
The deployed TVU One backpacks integrate TVU’s latest ISX multi-link bonding transmission technology, simultaneously utilizing 5G, 4G, satellite, and WiFi networks to intelligently distribute and transmit video and audio data in real-time. When one link experiences fluctuations, the system automatically adjusts data distribution strategy to ensure uninterrupted picture transmission.
During this event, 16 TVU One units deployed on motorcycle follow vehicles consistently delivered clear, smooth race footage to master control even in high-speed, complex mobile scenarios, providing viewers with an immersive racing experience.
TVU MLink is a 1RU rack-mounted IP video transmission device designed for mobile production trucks and studio environments. The unit employs the same ISX multi-link bonding technology as TVU One and supports external antennas to ensure optimal signal strength.
During the race, four MLink units deployed in mobile production trucks transmitted vehicle-mounted camera signals to master control at broadcast quality via LEO satellite. Supporting multiple HD and UHD formats with sub-second latency, the units provided stable, reliable transmission for the production trucks.
TVU GLink is an IP-based point-to-point video transmission platform designed for high-quality, low-latency transmission between two points. The device employs TVU’s ISX multi-link bonding technology combined with HEVC VBR encoding to maintain reliable transmission even in poor network conditions.
In this project, 13 GLink units handled signal transmission from all fixed camera positions and drone mounts, achieving studio-grade signal quality and ensuring reliable return of every critical moment.
TVU MediaHub, as a cloud-based media center, distributed the final program signal from master control to multiple platforms. For this event, MediaHub distributed programming to multiple Indian domestic and international broadcast platforms via SRT protocol with low latency and high quality, effectively overcoming network jitter and packet loss while ensuring transmission security—achieving efficient one-to-many distribution.
Throughout the five-day broadcast production, TVU’s integrated solution performed exceptionally. From high-speed motorcycle follow shots to mobile truck LEO satellite transmission, from fixed camera positions at start/finish lines to drone aerial point-to-point return, and master control PGM signal multi-platform distribution—the entire system operated reliably, ensuring smooth live broadcasting and delivering excellent, seamless race coverage to viewers.
The successful implementation of this project not only provided professional-grade live production for India’s first Pune Grand Tour but also established a technical benchmark for future multi-camera remote production of similar sporting events. As sports events increasingly demand mobility, flexibility, and cost control, TVU’s IP and cloud-based transmission, production, broadcast, and distribution solutions are becoming the ideal choice for global sports live production.
