20 TVU One Units Power Jiangsu Media’s Full-Scale Broadcast of the 2026 Wuxi Marathon

Jiangsu Broadcasting deployed 20 TVU One backpacks across the 2026 Wuxi Marathon course — and kept every camera live through one of China's busiest spring race weekends.

On the morning of March 22, 35,000 runners lined up along the shores of Lake Tai for the 2026 Wuxi Marathon, one of China’s most scenic road races. The course winds through cherry blossom parks and lakeside promenades — beautiful to run, and a genuine headache to broadcast.

Jiangsu Broadcasting Group took on full multi-platform coverage: live across television, web, and mobile simultaneously. The challenge wasn’t just the 42.195km course length. It was the combination of dense crowds at cherry blossom hotspots, high-speed motorcycle camera units tracking the lead pack, drone aerials over the lake, and the sheer number of network connections competing for bandwidth at the start and finish areas. To handle it, the team deployed 20 TVU One units distributed across every key point on the course — start line, pacemaker positions, aid stations, and the finish.

TVU One’s ISX bonding technology aggregates up to 12 connections simultaneously — six built-in 5G modems plus Ethernet and Wi-Fi — which meant that even in the most congested sections of the course, the units maintained stable, low-latency transmission. HEVC smart VBR encoding handled the dynamic range between fast-moving race action and quieter scenic shots, adjusting bitrate in real time to protect image quality within available bandwidth. Built-in two-way VoIP kept camera operators and the production truck in constant communication throughout the broadcast. And the units’ compact form factor meant they could be mounted on motorcycles and drones without modification — with all 20 units operational within a short setup window on race morning.

From the starting gun to the final finisher crossing the line under falling cherry blossoms, every camera fed back cleanly to the production center, where signals were received via TVU’s server infrastructure and distributed to broadcast and streaming platforms in real time.

For a broadcaster managing 20 simultaneous feeds across 42 kilometers of open course, that kind of reliability isn’t a nice-to-have — it’s the whole job. As marathon coverage continues to expand across platforms and production teams push further from the truck, TVU One gives broadcasters the flexibility to go anywhere on the course without trading away signal quality.
