On June 3, 2026, South Korea held its 9th local elections, with more than 44 million voters nationwide casting ballots—one of the largest national elections the country has seen in recent years. To support media coverage of this major political event in real time, TVU deployed a fully integrated, three-part solution: TVU One live broadcast backpacks, the TVU Anywhere mobile broadcasting app, and the TVU Grid IP routing and distribution system, together forming a complete technical pipeline spanning on-site acquisition, mobile transmission, and multi-point distribution.

TVU One: High-Quality Signal Acquisition in the Field

On election day, more than 200 TVU One backpacks were in active use across key reporting locations nationwide—from Seoul to Jeju Island—covering polling stations, vote-counting centers, and the campaign headquarters of each party’s candidates. Of these, 50 units were supplied through TVU’s rental fleet, with the remainder drawn from broadcasters’ own TVU One inventories—a clear reflection of how widely TVU One has been adopted by South Korea’s media organizations.

TVU One is built on the next-generation ISX multi-network bonding transmission technology, capable of aggregating up to 12 simultaneous network connections spanning multiple 5G/4G mobile networks, WiFi, Ethernet, and even satellite links to create a stable, high-bandwidth transmission channel in challenging network environments. Building on this, its adaptive algorithm accurately anticipates network conditions and dynamically reallocates bandwidth across links—ensuring reliable signal transmission even in the crowded, congested network conditions around polling stations and counting centers. Combined with intelligent HEVC VBR encoding and an FEC (Forward Error Correction) optimization algorithm, the device automatically adjusts its encoding bitrate and data redundancy based on real-time network conditions, maintaining high image quality while delivering ultra-low latency. Lightweight and long-lasting on battery, the device fully supported field reporters’ need for extended, continuous coverage.

TVU Anywhere: Full Coverage Through Mobile Broadcasting

To cover the many dispersed polling sites and on-the-street interview scenarios, frontline reporters were each equipped with mobile devices running the TVU Anywhere app. TVU Anywhere uses TVU’s patented multi-network bonding technology to aggregate cellular and WiFi signals simultaneously, delivering greater bandwidth and connection redundancy and transforming an ordinary smartphone into a professional broadcasting terminal. TVU Anywhere also supports dual-camera mode, enabling reporters to use a phone’s front and rear cameras at the same time during a broadcast—presenting both the reporter and the interviewee in picture-in-picture or split-screen views, adding richer visual dimension to election coverage. With just a handheld phone, reporters could go live at any moment, flexibly capturing first-hand footage of voters at the polls, vote-counting progress across the country, and the latest developments from candidates.

TVU Grid: Global IP Routing and Distribution

All field signals were transmitted in real time to each broadcaster’s Seoul studio center, where—after live switching, graphics packaging, and compositing with studio footage—the final PGM signal was distributed via TVU Grid to broadcast stations nationwide and to overseas partner media. As an IP video distribution platform, TVU Grid supports multi-point transmission and cross-platform sharing, achieving ultra-low-latency synchronized distribution without relying on traditional satellite or dedicated fiber lines—ensuring election news reaches domestic and international audiences promptly and efficiently.

Through the coordinated deployment of these three solutions, the live coverage of these local elections was delivered comprehensively and seamlessly. Whether for instant live shots from polling sites, real-time tracking at vote-counting centers, or immediate responses from each party’s candidates, TVU’s solutions provided stable signal transmission and high-quality imaging throughout. TVU has supported live coverage of South Korea’s national elections many times in the past; with this proven product combination once again deployed in the field, TVU continues to provide reliable technical assurance for media organizations covering major news events.
