TVU Anywhere instantly turns your smartphone, tablet, or laptop into a transmitter for high-quality live transmission and streaming from remote locations.

Introduction, setup, and base operation

TVU Anywhere is a mobile live-streaming app delivering high-quality live transmission for video broadcasting in remote locations. Thousands of mobile journalists and live streamers use TVU Anywhere as their number-one broadcast app for Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, and many other mobile devices.

TVU Anywhere overview

TVU Anywhere allows users to transmit full-HD video from anywhere using cellular bonding technology and HEVC encoding.

TVU Anywhere aggregates your mobile smart device’s 3G/4G/LTE/5G connection and available WiFi for high-definition wireless video transmissions using patented IS+ technology and HEVC encoding.
This provides a high bandwidth connection reducing lags, and giving your live broadcast the highest level of stability when streaming live video from your iPhone, Android, iPad, or any other mobile device.

TVU Anywhere also provides an affordable Cloud-based live remote production for anyone that wants to stream to multiple CDNs.

Features overview

Advanced theme: The TVU Anywhere app offers a new (advanced) theme with added features.
User-friendly interface: Go live, monitor, and control the transmission from an easy-to-use interface. Key status information such as real-time transmission rate and live streaming are provided.
Dual camera support: Simultaneous use of the front and rear of a smart mobile device allows a Picture-by-Picture (PBP) or Picture-in-Picture (PIP) transmission.

Return Video Feed (VFB): The return video feedback feature allows users to view a live feed from the studio or remote location for enhanced participation.
Remote Pan-and-Zoom: A remote operator in the studio can control the camera’s focus, brightness, and also pan-and-zoom without intervention from the device user in the field. This provides unprecedented control over camera framing and exposure without degradation of HD picture quality.
TVU Token integration: The Token feature provides a simple token-based system for easy management of user accounts. The Token feature is used in the field to pair your TVU Anywhere with your receiver without TVU support intervention.
TVU’s Inverse StatMux Plus (IS+) technology: Aggregates your device’s cellular wireless connection and available WiFi to provide HD and 4K quality live video using HEVC video transmission.

The TVU Anywhere app supports iOS, Android, MacOS, and Windows OS. (It’s recommended using the latest system version.)

The recommended phone models are as follows:

Installing the TVU Anywhere app – Smart mobile device

Complete the following steps to install the TVU Anywhere app.

Step 1:
Installing the TVU Anywhere app onto your iOS smart mobile device

The TVU Anywhere app is available free of charge from the app store.

To download and register the TVU Anywhere app:

From your mobile device, go to the App Store and enter TVU Anywhere Pro in the search field.
Download and install the TVU Anywhere app onto your smartphone.

Installing the TVU Anywhere app onto your Android device

The TVU Anywhere app is available free of charge from the Google Play Store.

To download and register the TVU Anywhere app:

From your mobile device, click the Google Play icon and enter TVU Anywhere in the search field.
Download and install the TVU Anywhere app onto your smartphone.

Step 2:
TVU Anywhere iOS and Android registration

To finalize your TVU Anywhere registration:

Go to your Applications and launch the TVU Anywhere app. Note that the TVU Anywhere app icon for Android devices will not denote “Pro.”

Press the double arrows to open the features bar.
Press the info icon.

Write down your device PID displayed in the pop-up window.

Contact TVU Support to complete your registration. You will need to provide the following information:

The device PID
The receiver(s) name and PID
After the PID is successfully registered, you can begin streaming.

Complete the following steps to install the TVU Anywhere app:

Step 1:
Installing the TVU Anywhere app onto your iPad or Mac Pro

The TVU Anywhere app is available free of charge from the TVU Networks TVU Anywhere Product page at: tvunetworks.com/products/tvu-anywhere/

To download and register for the TVU Anywhere app:

Click the App Store icon or https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tvu-anywhere-pro/id883099579 to download and install the TVU Anywhere app onto your iPad.

Installing the TVU Anywhere app onto your Windows device

The TVU Anywhere Pro app is available free of charge from the TVU Networks TVU Anywhere Product page at: https://www.tvunetworks.com/products/tvu-anywhere/

To download and register for the TVU Anywhere app:

Click the Free Windows Download icon or click https://dl.tvunetworks.com/TVUAnywhere/TVUAnywhere.zip
Download and install the TVU Anywhere app to your PC or laptop.

Go to your Download folder and click the file to start the TVU Anywhere app installation.

Step 2:
iPad, Mac Pro, and Windows registration

To finalize your TVU Anywhere registration:

Go to your Applications folder and launch the TVU Anywhere app.

Press the double arrows to open the feature bar.
Press the Info icon.

Locate and write down your device’s PID displayed in the Info screen.

Contact TVU Support to complete your registration. You will need to provide the following information:

The device PID
The receiver(s) name and PID

After the PID is successfully registered, you can begin streaming.

Pairing your device with a TVU receiver

Email TVU Support at support@tvunetworks.com. TVU support will pair your TVU Anywhere app to the receiver receiving your stream.

In addition, TVU Anywhere integrates with the TVU Command Center Token feature. Activating the Token feature allows an administrator to pair with a list of registered receivers using the Command Center user interface.

Note: For more information about the Token feature, refer to “Appendix A of this Quick Start User Guide”TVU Token feature overview.”

TVU Anywhere operational controls and functions

After launching the TVU Anywhere app, the interface will display the following operational controls and functions.

Select icon – Press the Select icon next to the battery indicator to open the Scan window and pair your device with a receiver.
Folding menu (double arrows) – Press the double arrows “>>” folding menu to open the feature menu icons.

The feature icon selections are described as follows from left to right:

Crop icon – Tap the Crop icon to select part of the video image.

Filmstrip icon – Tap the filmstrip icon to open the alternate source menu.

The Filmstrip source selections include Native camera captures, pictures, and external device pairing. Features include PIP, PBP, BGM, and BGM Blur:

Picture-in-Picture (PIP) icon – The PIP icon allows the user to transmit an overlay on top of their transmission.
Picture-by-Picture (PBP) icon – The PIP icon allows users to transmit two pictures side-by-side.
Background manager icon (BGM) – The BGM icon displays a subject with a full background.
Background manager icon (BGM Blur) – The BGM icon displays a subject with a blurred background.

Create Video Clip icon – Press the Clip icon to create and edit a video clip from recorded videos and photos.

Upload icon – The Upload icon allows users to upload their video clips or pictures to a receiver.

Setting icon – Tap the Setting icon to open the Advanced menu operations such as Video, Audio, Record, MISC, About, and external device configuration and enablement options.

VFB icon – The VFB icon allows the user to initiate a return video feedback from a local SDI or Live source.

Screen Broadcast icon – Use the Screen Broadcast function to record everything on your screen, including notifications. Enable the Do Not Disturb function to prevent unexpected notifications.

Snapshot icon: The camera icon to add a native camera capture to your source menu. This feature allows you to capture an image in Live or Standby mode.

The right panel operational controls and features are described from bottom to top.

Record button – The Record video function records in Live or Standby mode.
Partyline icon – Press the Partyline icon to join or create a Party.
Live button – Press the Stop Icon to Start and Stop the Live video function.
Stream button – Use the Stream button to stream live.
Front and rear facing camera icon – Press this icon to switch between front and rear camera perspectives.
Stabilization – The stabilization feature allows users to capture video in standard, aggressive, or extreme environments.
White balance (WB) – The WB feature allows a user to adjust the white balance of their video.
Zoom – The Zoom feature allows a user to zoom into an image.
Light – The Light feature allows a user to adjust the screen brightness in order to save power.
Focus – To focus on a specific area of the screen, tap the area, and the camera will refocus in that area of the image.
Beauty icon – Adjusts the lighting of an object. This feature also enhances a person’s image by reducing facial imperfections.
Exposure – The Exposure feature allows a user to adjust the video exposure setting.
Transmission – The Transmission feature allows users to adjust the delay and bitrate when live.
Microphone – Select the desired mic ( embedded mic, earphone mic, or Bluetooth mic).

New functions

The latest functions include:

Partyline (MacOS): displays a web-side participants list when screen share is highlighted. Supports Partyline stereo capture and playback.
Partyline (Android/iOS): Supports remote control speaker, recording in CBR mode, and Timelock with Command Center, and displays party name on top of the Party ID when joining a meeting.
Picture-in-Picture (PIP) with a preloaded picture as background.
Picture-in-Picture (PIP) with the back camera as background.
Two Picture-by-Picture PBP functions.
Two Background Manager options (BGM and BGM Blur.)
Support for DJI Drone (iOS based on DJI SDK v4.16.2) and DJI Drone (Android, based on DJI SDK v5.14.0).
Support for Center Stage with the new M1 iPad Pro.

Choose your registered receiver

Complete the following steps to choose a registered receiver:

Launch the TVU Anywhere app.
Press the Select receiver or scan to pair drop-down menu.
Select the paired receiver from the list.

If you did not select a receiver from the drop-down list, the Scan screen will automatically display.
Enter any “optional” information and press Next.

A second Scan screen will display. Continue with “Token pairing.”

Token pairing

To Scan or Enter a Token code to pair your smartphone with a receiver:

To Enter a Token code, press the “123” icon.

Enter your Token code and press Apply.

To manually scan a Token code, press the Scan icon and allow the smartphone to scan the Token QR code.

Selecting and playing recorded video into the stream

Below the menu bar is a grid of 6 boxes. Each box is a placeholder for a selected photo or video which can be added to the live stream.

To add a video for live playout:

Press the double arrows to open the feature bar.
Press the Filmstrip icon.

Press the Plus (+) icon and select Video from the menu.

The saved video menu opens.

Make your selection and press Done or the Back button to make another selection.

To Play a video, tap the video thumbnail once, and it will play into the live stream. At the end of the clip, it will return to the camera feed.

Note: Playing a video will cancel the PIP or PBP setting and the stream will return to the last used primary camera.

To delete a preselected video, press and hold one of the boxes that contain a video thumbnail. A red delete bar will appear.

Standby status indicator

After you have selected your receiver, the status indicator in the top left corner of the screen displays “STANDBY” until you go live with the receiver.

Going Live with a receiver

To take your video live with a receiver, press the red Live button.

Live and Offline status indicators

When you go live with the receiver, the status indicator changes to “LIVE” and displays the receiver you are transmitting to. In addition, the live streaming time and the transmission rate displays at the top-left of the screen. If the status indicator reads OFFLINE, TVU Anywhere is not paired with a TVU receiver, or the TVU receiver is not powered on, and you cannot transmit live video.

The “LIVE” status indicator displays in the top left corner of the app when the Live transmission begins, as shown in the following graphic.

Record button

The Record video function can record in Live or Standby mode.

To record in live or Standby mode, complete the following steps:

Press the green Rec button.

When you are recording, the Rec button turns to a green square, and a counter starts at the top left of the screen.

To stop the recording, press the green square. Your recording is saved to your smart device.

Reverse facing camera feature

This feature allows a user to switch between front and rear camera perspectives.

To use the reverse-facing camera feature, complete the following steps:

Press the reverse camera icon.
Press the reverse camera icon again to return your camera to front-facing mode.

Stream feature

Note: The Stream feature is a paid feature and is available to users that sign in using their active TVU Producer account.

The Stream feature allows users to:

Live stream an entire live Partyline video to Social Media platforms and other CDNs.
Use TVU Anywhere as a streaming source.

To stream live video, complete the following steps:

Press the Stream icon.

Follow the prompts to stream live.

Partyline capability feature

The Producer Partyline capability feature integrates with TVU Anywhere App version 9.0.42 and above. Partyline provides video conferencing capabilities between multiple or remote participants in a live production.

A production initiator sends the TVU Anywhere app user a web link in the field to pair their device to the Partyline session. The Participants can see a return feed on the main screen indicating what is being broadcast.

Partyline Support:

Join a party using a Party ID or create a party and live
stream the entire party video to Social Media platforms
and other CDNs.
Join a party by inputting the party ID.
Active TVU Voice (VoIP) with Partyline when the app is
running in the background.
Prompt allows users to re-enter a Partyline session if
exited unintentionally.
Global control and Audio matrix.
Stereo capture and playback.

The Partyline feature allows users to join or create a Partyline session.

Create a Party

To start a party:

Press the Partyline icon.

Press the Create New Party button and log in to Partyline with your user credentials.

Press the Invite link to copy the code. Send participants the code to join.

Join a Party

To join a Party:

Open the TVU Anywhere app and press the Partyline icon.
Copy and paste the Partyline URL sent by the host and press Join.

Adding overlay sources

The Add overlay sources icon allows users to add up to six sources. User’s can add URL, HTML streams, and the phone’s GPS information.
To add overlay sources:

Tap the overlay source icon.

Tap the Plus “+” in one of the six preview blocks.
Choose a URL, HTML format or GPS from the menu.

Configure your selected source in the pop-up screen using one of the following URL Source, HTML source, or GPS information methods.

URL source

To configure a URL source:

Enter a Name.
Enter the URL.
Enable Web interaction.
Enter a Z order.
Adjust the Frame Rate.
Tap the View Mode “>” to select Preview or Preview and Live.
Tap Save in the top banner.

HTML source

To configure a HTML source:

Enter a Name.
Tap the “>” to enter or paste the Input HTML source code
Enable Web interaction.
Enter a Z order.
Adjust the Frame Rate.
Tap the View Mode “>” to select Preview or Preview and Live.
Tap Save in the top banner.

GPS information

To configure the phone’s GPS information:

Enter a Name.
Enable the Coordinates.
Enable the Speed (This will impact the devices’ energy).
Enable the Altitude.
Tap Save in the top banner.

Using the dual-camera feature

The TVU Anywhere Dual camera feature is enabled when using the Picture-by-Picture (PBP) or Picture-in-Picture (PIP), and two Background manager (BGM) modes. These modes allow simultaneous use of the front and rear-facing cameras.

Dual Camera is supported on the following Apple devices: iPhone XS, XR, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, ,13, 14/14 Plus/14 Pro/14 Pro Max, 15, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max. 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, and iPad Pro 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th generations and M4.

To use this feature, complete the following steps:

Press the double arrows to open the feature bar.
Press the Filmstrip icon to open the menu.

Place your iPhone in a position to capture the front and rear-facing images.
Press the PBP icon for side-by-side Picture-by-Picture, or the PIP icon to overlay video from the front camera onto the back camera video.

Note: The PBP or PIP icons display green when active.

Press the BGM (Blur) icon to blur the background image.

Click away from the menu to return to the main screen.
To move the placement of the PIP image, press and hold the PIP video and drag it to a new position.

Create Video Clip feature

The Create Video Clip feature allows users to select and edit local photos and videos to stream live.

Press the Create Video Clip icon.

The Create Video Clip window will display.

Press the Plus icon to select local photos or video. You will be prompted to allow access to your photo library. In settings, select an access level.
Press Edit selected photos, then press Show selected.

Press Done.

Upload feature

You can upload your recorded videos and pictures to a receiver using the Upload feature.

To upload your content to a receiver, complete the following steps:

Press the Upload icon to open the menu.

The Upload screen opens. Press the Plus (+) icon and select Album to upload your video clips or pictures to the paired receiver.

Make your selection.

In the Preview window, press the Done.

Select a Destination Type. To rename your file, press the File Name field.
To upload your video clips or pictures to the paired receiver, press Upload.

Advanced features

The Setting icon opens the Settings menu, where you can access Video, Audio, Record, MISC, About, and external device configuration and enablement options.

Refer to “Advanced settings” for Advanced feature use and controls.

Tap the Setting icon to open the Setting menu.

The Setting menu will be displayed.

Return Video Feedback (VFB)

The VFB icon allows the users to initiate a return video feedback from a local SDI or Live source. The VFB feature allows the option to hide the local video preview when VFB takes the full screen.

To use this feature, complete the following steps:

Press the VFB icon to open the menu.

Select the desired output and source from the pop-up menu, then press Start.

Press the VFB icon in the function bar to stop the live transmission, then press the red Stop icon.

Screen Broadcast feature

Use the Screen Broadcast function to record everything on your screen, including notifications.

Note: To prevent unexpected notifications during the screen broadcast, enable the “Do Not Disturb” function in the TVU Anywhere Control Center interface.

To use the Screen Broadcast feature:

Press the Screen Broadcast icon.

Press Start Broadcast.

Snapshot feature

Use the camera icon to add a native camera capture to your source menu. This feature allows you to capture an image in Live or Standby mode.

To use the Snapshot feature:

Press the Snapshot icon.

The snapshot preview temporarily displays. Press the Snapshot icon again to replace the image if needed.

Press the Filmstrip icon. Your image is displayed in the Native Camera source window.

Flash feature

The flash feature turns on the flash for extra lighting when needed.

To use the flash feature:

To turn on the flash, press the flash icon.
To turn the flash function off, press the flash icon again.

Stabilization feature

The Stabilization feature allows users to record video in standard mode or in aggressive or extreme environments.

To use the Stabilization feature:

Press Stabilization in the vertical sidebar.
Select your appropriate option.

White balance (WB) feature

The WB feature allows a user to adjust the white balance of an image automatically or manually. Auto is the default setting. To switch to the Manual setting, tap Auto.

To manually adjust the WB:

Press WB in the vertical sidebar.
Use the adjustment bars to correct the white balance.
To reset the white balance, press Reset.

Zoom feature

The Zoom feature allows a user to zoom into an image.

To use the Zoom feature:

Press Zoom in the vertical sidebar.
Use the adjustment bar to magnify your image.
To reset the magnification, press Reset.

Light (Brightness) feature

The Light feature allows a user to adjust the brightness of the overall image.

To adjust the brightness:

Press Light in the vertical sidebar.
Use the adjustment bars to adjust the brightness.
To reset the brightness, press Reset.

Focus feature

To focus on a specific area of the screen, tap the area, and the camera will refocus in that area of the image.

To use the Focus feature:

Press Focus in the vertical sidebar. This feature is set to Auto by default.
Tap the area on the screen that you want the camera to focus on.

Press Auto to change to the Manual mode. This mode will allow you to adjust the focus manually.

Beauty feature

The Beauty feature adjusts and applies a softened filter to the subject. This feature also enhances a person’s image by reducing facial imperfections.

The Beauty feature applies to 720P, 480P and 1080P30 settings.

To use the Beauty feature:

Press Beauty in the vertical sidebar.
To adjust the enhancement level, move the bar up to enhance the subject.

Exposure feature

The Exposure feature allows a user to adjust the exposure setting for the content. This feature is set to Auto by default.

To adjust the exposure:

Press Exposure in the vertical sidebar.
Tap Auto to display the Manual setting. Use the adjustment bar to adjust the exposure setting.
To reset the exposure setting, press Reset.

Transmission feature

The Trannsmission feature allows users to adjust the bitrate and delay during a live transmission.

To use the Transmission feature:

When the transmission is Live, press Transmission in the vertical sidebar. The setting bar displays.

Adjust the Delay and Bitrate sliders.
Tap Reset to return to the original settings.

MIC feature

The MIC feature allows for the manual selection of the source microphone.

To use the MIC feature:

Press MIC in the vertical sidebar. The MIC setting bar displays.

Select the MIC type, Exterior, Built-in, or Bluetooth.

Advanced settings

This section explains TVU Anywhere advanced features in the Setting menu and how to use them.

Advanced features

Settings information about your device, video, audio, recording, NTP, IS+, external devices, and DJI can be accessed from the Setting menu.

It is recommended that you review your settings and enable the features you would like to use by moving the slider to the right until it turns green.

To access the Setting menu:

Press the Setting icon in the feature bar.

To set the resolution and frame rate for your transmission:

In the Video panel, set the Resolution and Frame Rate that is optimal for the transmission.
Enable or disable any other video related features for the transmission.

Swipe the menu upward to access the Audio, Record, and MISC settings.
To use the Partyline feature, enable the appropriate mic features in the Audio panel.

This audio option allows users to use audio capturing for live transmission to a receiver. It can capture only the phone camera, and also mix the IFB (TVU Voice) audio in the capture, or audio that comes from Partyline if Partyline is enabled.

In the Record panel enable the appropriate features.

When enabling metadata, it adds metadata information to the recorded videos. It can be helpful for TVU Search or other purposes that require identifying what the video is about.

In the MISC panel, enable the appropriate features.
The Theme setting is automatically set to the theme you have chosen. To change Themes, disable the default setting and follow the prompts.

In the Extrnal Devices panel, enable the appropriate settings. Refer to the specific External device procedures for setting up your device.
The About panel provides your device, PID, and UUID information. tap the User Guide link to display an overview of the DJI and professional camera support you can use with TVU Anywhere.

Creating a hotspot connection to a TVU Pack

Complete the following steps to create a hotspot connection to a TVU Pack using the TVU Anywhere app:

Launch the TVU Anywhere app.
Tap the TVU One screen and swipe to the left until you see the QR Code screen.

Press the Scan icon in the TVU Anywhere app. Orient the QR code inside the app’s crop marks and press the Scan icon again.

Apple Center Stage integration

This feature allows operator-less Live Video Production with Apple Center Stage.

Users can Live stream from their iPad Pro using the built-in hardware and bring quality to a mobile broadcast or live video production.

TVU Anywhere broadcasting app enhances iPad live streams with integrated AI-based technology that automatically recognizes and tracks the subject as he or she moves.

The Apple Center Stage feature for the iPad Pro with M1 chip, integrated within TVU Anywhere via API, frees on-screen subjects from the constraints of remaining in a fixed position, greatly improving the professionalism of a single-person live video production.

The technology also reacts if an additional subject enters the shot (such as an interviewee) by automatically zooming out to capture the additional subjects and zooming back in again when the interview is completed. No external controls are required to operate Center Stage in TVU Anywhere.

TVU Anywhere DJI integration

This section describes additional TVU Anywhere applications, including:

Enabling TVU Anywhere for use with DJI drones.
Using the TVU Token feature.
Pairing the TVU Anywhere app with a registered receiver using the TVU One QR code menu

Enabling TVU Anywhere for use with supported DJI drones

TVU Anywhere app (version 6.2.4.291 or later) supports the transmission of videos from a DJI drone. This section introduces the methods for connection, disconnection, and registration. If you have any questions, contact TVU Support at +1.650.440.4812.

The new TVU Anywhere Theme provides an overview of the DJI Drone support.

ATTENTION: DJI account registration is required when using a DJI drone in China.

DJI account registration and bound are required when using a DJI Drone in China. Failure to do so will result in the Drone’s video being unable to work with the TVU Anywhere app. You can go to the DJI official China website to register your DJI account using your phone number (do not use your e-mail address) as shown in the “DJI registration example (China).” The account information will be used when the device is active and will bind the DJI device to the TVU Anywhere app.

Supported DJI drone models and TVU Anywhere platforms

TVU Anywhere platforms:

Note: TVU Anywhere is not compatible with drone controller models that have an embedded display.

Using TVU Anywhere with a DJI drone

To use the TVU Anywhere app with the supported DJI drone, complete the following steps:

Download and install the latest version of TVU Anywhere app to your phone.
Turn on the DJI drone and drone controller.

Note: You may test the drone and controller with the DJI Go app.

Connect the USB cable to the iPhone and drone controller. Then, launch the TVU Anywhere app.
Enable the DJI device in the TVU Anywhere app.

Note: Video will automatically switch from the drone to the TVU Anywhere app once enabled. If the screen on the TVU Anywhere app does not display, make sure your DJI device is enabled in the TVU Anywhere app.

If you are operating the DJI drone in China, verify that the DJI account is activated and bound. Click Sign in DJI and enter the account password for binding and activating, as shown below.

The Binding and application activation states will display as “Bound” and “Activated” if the operation succeeds, as shown below.

Using the Partyline capability feature

The Producer Partyline capability feature integrates with TVU Anywhere app version 9.0.42 and later. Partyline provides video conferencing capabilities between multiple participants or remote participants in a live production. By using the TVU Anywhere app, all participants (or talent personnel) can video conference with each other.

The Partyline capability feature uses Real Time Interactive Layer (RTIL) technology to provide video conferencing capabilities for remote live production. For more information, refer to the TVU Producer Partyline Quick Start User Guide.

Step 1 – Download and install the TVU Anywhere app onto your iOS smart mobile device

The TVU Anywhere app is available free of charge from the App store. To download and register the TVU Anywhere app, complete the following steps:

From your mobile device, go to the App Store and enter TVU Anywhere Pro in the search field. Download and install the iOS TVU Anywhere Version 9.0.43 and later to your smartphone or laptop.
Go to your Applications folder and launch the TVU Anywhere app.

Press the double arrows to open the feature bar.
Press the Information icon.

Locate and write down your device PID displayed in the pop-up window.

Contact TVU Support to complete your registration. You will need to provide the following information:

The device PID
The receiver(s) name and PID

After the PID is successfully registered, you are now ready to begin streaming.

On Mac OS

Download and install the TVU Anywhere app version 9.0.0b111 or later to your Mac OS device.

Download and install the TVU Anywhere app onto your Android device

The TVU Anywhere app is available free of charge from the Google Play Store. To download and register the TVU Anywhere app, complete the following steps:

From your mobile device, click the Google Play icon and enter TVU Anywhere in the search field. Then, download and install the TVU Anywhere app version 9.0.42 and later on your smartphone.
Go to your Applications folder and launch the TVU Anywhere app. Note that the TVU Anywhere app icon will not denote “Pro.”

Press the double arrows to open the feature bar.
Press the Info icon.

Locate and write down your device PID displayed in the pop-up window.

Contact TVU Support to complete your registration. You will need to provide the following information:

The device PID
The receiver(s) name and PID

After the PID is successfully registered, you are now ready to begin streaming.

Step 2 – Create or Participate in the party

The Partyline feature allows users to join or create a Partyline session.

Note: You will be prompted to sign in with your user credentials to create a new party. Anyone can join a party without signing in.

Create a Party

To create a new a party:

Press the Partyline icon.

Press the Create New Party button and log in to Partyline with your user credentials.

Participate using the TVU Anywhere app

The remote participant can now see this user interface on the TVU Anywhere app and can engage in a video conference with all other remote participants on the Partyline.

Click the switch button To reverse the front and rear camera views on your cell phone.
Click the camera ON to enable participants to see you. Click the camera OFF if you prefer not to be seen.
Click the Microphone button to control the On and Off function of the microphone. When you click the Microphone button to Off, you are active and participants cannot hear you.
Horizontally scroll the screen to view more participants.
PIP mode – Click PGM or a participant’s source to enlarge their window. The enlarged picture and your picture displays in PIP mode. Click the screen again to exit PIP mode.

Appendix A – TVU Token feature overview

Pairing your device via the Token feature

Before TVU Anywhere can go Live, it must first be paired with one or more receiving devices. These pairings can be created on a self-service basis by utilizing the Token feature.

A Token comes in a numeric or QR code generated by your TVU system administrator and provided to you. Entering this Token code will automatically pair your device with the appropriate TVU output receivers.

Important information about device settings

When using the TVU Anywhere app, set your device to the “Do not disturb” mode.

Important: Setting your device to the “Do not disturb” mode while you are using TVU Anywhere will keep your TVU Anywhere app from closing in the event you receive an incoming call.

Accepting a Token using the TVU Anywhere app

To accept a Token using the TVU Anywhere app, complete the following steps:

Obtain the Token code from your administrator.

To Scan or manually enter the Token code, open your TVU Anywhere app. Then, click the Scan icon in the receiver bar.

Note: There is a limit of 50 devices that can be used for each token QR code. You can accept the Token code using two methods. You may either scan a printed or displayed QR code, or enter the numeric token code manually. The manual method is highly recommended.

The Scan window displays. Enter the phone number and introduction information in the fields at the top of the screen. This step is optional but highly recommended. Press Next.

The scan window opens.

Continue with “Scan the Token QR code” or “Manually enter the Token code.”

Scan the Token QR code

To scan your Token code, complete the following steps:

Click the Scan icon in the function bar. Then, press the green Scan icon at the bottom of the Scan window.
Align the Token QR code inside of the green frame. The app reads the QR code. A ‘Success’ pop-up displays.

Your system administrator must approve your code before you can go Live.
To go live, click the Live icon in the function bar. Press the red Live button in the right panel if you use the new theme.

Manually enter the Token code

To manually enter the Token code, complete the following steps:

Click the Scan icon in the function bar. Then, select the Enter 123 icon.
Enter the phone number and introduction information in the fields at the top of the screen. This step is optional but highly recommended. Press Next.

Enter the Token code in the license field and click Apply. A ‘Success’ pop-up displays.
Your system administrator must approve your code before you can go Live.
To go live, click the Live icon in the function bar. Press the red Live button in the right panel if you are using the new theme.
The red Live indicator displays when live.

TVU Anywhere Lite Fast Track Guide

TVU Anywhere Lite instantly turns your smartphone or tablet into a transmitter for high-quality live transmission and streaming from remote locations.

Introduction, setup, and base operation

TVU Anywhere Lite is a lightweight version of TVU Anywhere, which turns your phone into a powerful live video transmitter capable of delivering a broadcast-quality video picture from any location.

TVU Anywhere overview

Field reporters, remote news anchors, citizen journalists, and streamers can go live to their audience with the press of a button and cover news, events, interviews, and human interest stories. TVU Anywhere Lite uses all available cellular and WiFi connections together with TVU’s patented IS+ technology for a reliable picture no matter the transmission environment and utilizes HEVC/H.265 encoding for efficient data usage.

Compatibility

iPhone – Requires iOS 12.0 or later.
iPad – Requires iPadOS 12.0 or later.
iPod touch – Requires iOS 12.0 or later.
Apple Vision – Requires visionOS 1.0 or later.
Android – Smartphones

Step 1 – Downloading and installing the TVU Anywhere Lite app

From your mobile device, click the Google Play icon or App Store icon and enter TVU Anywhere Lite in the search field. Download and install the TVU Anywhere Lite app onto your smartphone. TVU Lite supports iOS and Android smartphones.

Note: The TVU Anywhere Lite app has a different PID than the TVU Anywhere Pro version. You can install both versions on the same phone.

Note: This procedure applies to both Android and iOS devices.

Open the TVU Anywhere Lite app.
Press the Advanced (gear) icon to open Settings.

The settings window has three panels:

Video
Misc
About

Scroll down to About.
Locate your device PID and press the copy icon.

Provide this PID number to TVU support at support@tvunetworks.com to connect you to the correct receiver.
Press the back “<” icon to return to the main screen.

Step 2 – Choose your registered receiver

Press the Select receiver or scan to pair bar to select a receiver from the drop-down menu.

If you did not select a receiver from the drop-down list, the scan screen will automatically display. Continue with “Token pairing.”

Token pairing

This section provides the steps to install the TVU Anywhere app on your smart mobile device.

To enter a Token code, press the “123” icon.

Enter your Token code and tap Apply.

To manually scan a Token code, press the Scan icon and allow the smartphone to scan the Token code.

Step 3 – Going Live

After you have successfully paired your device to a receiver, the status indicator in the top left corner of the screen displays “STANDBY” until you go live with the receiver.

Live button

When you go live with the receiver, the status indicator changes from “STANDBY” to “LIVE” on the top left of the screen. The Live button turns to a red square. The receiver you are currently transmitting to displays on the top of the screen. In addition, the live streaming time and the transmission rate are displayed at the top of the screen.

If the TVU Anywhere Lite app is not paired with a TVU receiver or the TVU receiver is not powered on and you cannot transmit live video.

Stopping Live

To stop going Live, press the red square. The “LIVE” status button and “STANDBY” will display again.

TVU Anywhere Lite features

The TVU Anywhere Lite app allows you to access and use eight additional features.

Reverse facing camera feature

This feature allows a user to switch between front and rear camera perspectives.

Press the reverse camera icon.
To return your camera to front facing, press the reverse camera icon once again.

Flash feature

The flash feature is used to turn on the flash for extra lighting when needed.

To turn on the flash, press the flash icon.
To turn the flash function off, press the flash icon again.

White balance (WB) feature

The WB feature allows a user to adjust the white balance of their video.

Press WB in the sidebar. The WB defaults to Auto.

To manually correct the WB, press Auto to switch to Manual.
Use the adjustment bars to correct the white balance.
To reset the white balance, press Reset.

Zoom feature

The Zoom feature allows a user to zoom into an image.

Press Zoom in the sidebar.
Use the adjustment bar to magnify your image.
To reset the magnification, press Reset.

Light (Brightness) feature

The Light feature allows a user to adjust the brightness of the overall video.

Press Light in the sidebar.
Use the adjustment bars to adjust the brightness.
To reset the brightness, press Reset.

Focus feature

To focus on a specific area of the screen, tap the area, and the camera will refocus in that area of the image.

To use the Focus feature:

Press Focus in the sidebar. This feature is set to Auto by default.
Tap the area on the screen that you want the camera to focus on.

Press Auto to change to the Manual mode. This mode will allow you to adjust the focus manually.

Exposure feature

The Exposure feature allows a user to adjust the video exposure setting.

To adjust the exposure:

Press Exposure in the sidebar. The exposure default is Auto.

To manually correct the exposure, press Auto to switch to Manual.
Use the adjustment bar to adjust the exposure setting.
To reset the exposure setting, press Reset.

MIC feature

The MIC feature allows for manual selection of the source microphone.

Press MIC in the sidebar. The MIC setting bar displays.

Press an Exterior, Built-in, or Bluetooth type.

TVU Grid for Command Center Quick Start User Guide

The TVU Grid Token allows Grid source owners to set up pool feeds with other stations using the TVU Command Center user interface.

TVU Command Center user interface includes four main navigation tabs; Route, Monitor, Grid, and Token. The Grid tab in the left-main navigation panel gives the Grid source owner access to Advanced Grid features.

Introduction, features, and requirements

With this new evolution of the TVU Grid®, we are proud to remove the existing Grid boundaries and make more content available worldwide to all TVU Grid customers.

The TVU Grid services now feature:

Self-service TVU Grid connects all TVU Grid entities regardless of station, group, affiliation, or location.
Grid availability of major Network news services over IP rather than satellite.
Search capability to help locate and take advantage of these services.

The new TVU Grid for Command Center features form part of a three-tiered service allowing TVU Command Center account owners to access and manage Grid sources outside their traditional organizational boundaries. This new Grid service uses the expanded Command Center user interface to search for, request, and go live with these sources.

The two types of Grid sources referred to throughout this document are ‘Available’ and ‘Authorized.’
An ‘Authorized’ Grid source is a source that is available on the TVU Grid and to which the user and TVU Server have permission to go Live with.

TVU Grid sources that are manually paired to your account by TVU support or your administrator are also ‘‘Authorized’ sources.

Additional sources can now be searched for and requested in a self-service model giving control to the TVU Grid community.

An ‘Available’ source is not yet authorized but can be searched for, and access can be requested by using the new TVU Grid Command Center Grid features.

Use your Command Center account along with a Grid-enabled TVU server and Grid-enabled owner rights to gain access and manage Grid sources within the Command Center Grid tab.

Grid for Command Center features

The TVU Grid Command Center service has the following new tier-based Grid features and functionality:

Tier 1

Toggle between thumbnail or map views to locate authorized and available Grid sources.
Search for and control your ‘Authorized’ Grid sources.
Filter your Grid source keyword search by using name, location, affiliation, and group.

Tier 2

All Tier 1 functions, plus:

Manage how your Grid sources display to others when they use the search bar for content.
Configure your contact details to effectively communicate with other Grid source owners and receive activity notifications.
View all direct and Grid Token access requests.
Manage your Direct request and Grid Token access requests.
Create Grid Token codes to enable access to your Grid sources.
Manage access to your Grid Sources using the incoming Direct Requests and Grid Token requests feature.

Tier 3

All Tier 1 and 2 functions, plus:

Add Grid sources using a Grid Token code.
Control Grid sources that you have been granted access to using the Direct Request and Grid Token features.
Search for and request access to ‘Available’ Grid sources you are not currently authorized to use.

Hardware and software requirements

Before you can use the TVU Grid for Command Center services, ensure you meet the following hardware and software requirements:

You must have a valid TVU Command Center account and a Grid-enabled receiver to use the TVU Grid for Command Center service.
If you do not have a valid Command Center account or need ownership rights of your Grid-enabled TVU server’s Grid sources, contact TVU Support at support@tvunetworks.com to set up an account.
Schedule a receiver software update to TVU6.5 or higher if required.
Refer to the following table for tier-based hardware and software requirements.

Interface overview

The Grid Token feature uses the expanded Command Center user interface to search for, request, and go live with these sources.

The TVU Grid for Command Center service provides access to advanced Grid features from your Command Center Web user interface.

The TVU Command Center user interface includes four main navigation tabs; Route, Monitor, Grid, and Token. This guide will explain the Grid tab features and how to use them.

TVU Grid Token and Grid tab features

Self-service administration – Users can create a Grid Token and Grid source pairing.
Define a single token for a single user – The Grid token feature allows an operator to create a single Grid source token defined by date and time for a TVU user.
Define a single token for multiple users – The Grid token feature allows an operator to create a single Grid source token defined by date and time for multiple users.
Send code to email feature – The token feature allows an operator to send a token code to an email address from the Command Center console for remote usage.
Administrative features – A user can accept, reject, or deny access to a token request.

TVU Grid Tab features

Self-service TVU Grid connects all TVU Grid entities regardless of station, group, affiliation, or location.
Grid availability of major Network news services over IP rather than satellite.
Search capability to help locate and take advantage of these services.

The Grid tab in the left-main navigation panel gives the user access to the following navigational tabs and functions:

Search tab

The Grid tab opens the Grid Search tab by default. The Search page allows users to:

Check the Authorized filter box to view, find, and control Grid sources you can access.
Check the Available filter box to find and request access to visible Grid sources you do not already have access to.
Toggle between a thumbnail or map view to locate authorized and available Grid sources.
Filter your keyword search by name, location, affiliation, and group.
Send a request to the Grid source owner directly from the interface. The Grid source owner will then be notified about your request and can accept, deny, or delete your request.
You can also enter a Grid Token code to access available Grid sources.

My Requests tab

The Grid tab’s My Requests page allows users to:

View all of your Direct Requests and Token Access requests.
Control Grid sources you have been granted access to via Direct Request and Grid Token.
Manage your Direct Requests and Grid Token access request.
Cancel and Delete your Direct Request and Grid Token access request.
Add Grid sources using a Grid Token code.

Contribute tab

The Contribute page includes the My Grid and Token tabs. These tabs allow you to manage access to your Grid sources and perform the tasks from the My Grid and Token tabs.

The Grid tab’s Contribute page allows users to:

Access the My Grid tab to display a list of your Grid sources and the Token tab, where grid source owners can create and share Grid tokens.
Manage how your Grid sources appear to others while searching for content.
Manage access to your Grid sources using the Direct Request and Grid Token requests.

Note: These functions are only available for Grid sources that your Command Center account has ownership rights for. Contact TVU Support to gain ownership rights for your Grid sources.

Contribute page – My Grid tab

Any Grid sources paired to your TVU Command Center account and given ownership rights by TVU Support or your account administrator displays and can be accessed here. You can perform the following tasks:

Manage your Grid source(s) display settings and Direct Requests for access.

Once Grid sources display, you can:

Configure whether your Grid source thumbnail is visible, blurred, or hidden to others searching for content.
Configure a description of your Grid source.
Configure location information about your Grid source.
Configure whether the description and location information that you configure is visible or hidden to other users searching for content.
Accept, Deny, or Delete a Direct Request for access to your Grid source.

Contribute page – Token tab

Selecting the Grid tab > Contribute tab >Token tab > Create Grid Token button allows you to create Grid Tokens, manage access to your Grid sources, and perform the following tasks.

Create Grid Tokens for Grid sources:

Name the Token.
Configure the Token’s temporary start and end time or make it permanently available.
Add any number of your Grid sources to a Token.
Send Token Code Email notifications.

Manage Grid Token Requests from other users:

Accept requests to add your Grid Token’s Grid sources to other receivers.
Deny requests to add your Grid Token’s Grid sources to the receivers.
Delete requests.

Refer to the Quick Start guide section for information about using the Contribute tab’s My Grid and Token tab functions.

My Contact Details tab

The Grid tab My Contact Details page allows users to:

Configure your contact details to communicate efficiently with others and receive activity notifications.

Switch tab

The Grid tab’s Switch page is an option that can be enabled to display Grid sources that are associated with receivers.

Schedule tab

The Grid tab’s Schedule page allows users to:

Displays a Grid transmission Schedule by Month, week, or day searchable by PID or Name.
Import a source event into the Schedule. Formats supported are CSV (MS Outlook) and xls.
Create a new source event by entering a Source title, reporter, and slug information.

Quick Start Guide

This Quick Start User Guide provides the steps necessary to complete the following objectives:

Sign in to the TVU Command Center account.
Use the Grid tab features:
Use the Search tab features.
Use the My Requests tab features.
Use the Contribute tab features:
Use the My Grid features.
Use the Token features.

Before you begin

Before you can share content using TVU Grid For Command Center, ensure you complete the “Hardware and software requirements.”

Contact TVU Support at support@tvunetworks.com to activate your account’s TVU Command Center token feature. Activating the token feature allows an operator to create a token with a Grid source to pair registered receivers using the Command Center UI.

There are two token features available in Command Center.

Grid Token (This guide)
TVU Anywhere token – Refer to the “TVU Anywhere Token Quick Start User Guide” for detailed information.

Sign up and confirm your TVU Command Center account

If you need to set up a new Command Center account, contact support@tvunetworks.com. Complete the instructions in an Email sent to you by the TVU Networks support team. The Email contains the procedure to sign up and confirm your Command Center account.

Sign in to Command Center

To Sign in to Command Center, complete the following procedure:

Launch Command Center and authenticate your account; Enter your Email and Password or use an SSO method.
Click Sign In.

The Command Center Route page displays.

Click the Grid tab in the left navigation bar. The Grid tab features five or six more menu selections, Search, My Requests, Contribute, My Contact Details, Switch (if enabled), and Schedule.

The Grid tab in the left navigation panel allows users to request and share Grid sources.

TVU Grid services feature:

Self-service TVU Grid connects all TVU Grid entities regardless of station, group, affiliation, or location.
Grid availability of major Network news services over IP rather than satellite.

Use the Schedule tab to create a Grid source schedule by Month, Week, or Day.
Enter a title, date and time, reporter, and story slug directly on the calendar.
Import a source event schedule from your local drive.
Download your slug information to your local drive.

(6) +Add Grid Token: Request access to grid sources using a token code.

Continue with the steps in the “My Contact Details tab.”

My Contact Details tab

Click the Grid tab in the left panel. The My Contact Details tab opens the Personal Information screen. You must enter your contact information in the fields provided to effectively communicate with other Grid source owners and receive activity notifications.

To enter your personal information, complete the following steps:

Click the My Contact Details tab. The Personal Information screen displays.

In the fields provided, enter your Name, Email address, Phone number, TV Station Name or Business Name, and Station Address. Click Setup to save your information.

If you need to edit your personal information, click My Contact Details > Edit, make changes, and click Setup.

Tip: The Email address configured here will be used to send you Direct Request and Grid Token authorization notifications.

You are now ready to access your authorized Grid sources and find available ones. Continue with “The Search tab.”

The Search Tab

The Search tab allows you to find and control Grid sources that you already have access to (such as “Authorized” sources) and also to find and request access to Grid sources that you do not currently have access to (such as “Available” sources).

Locating authorized and available Grid sources

The Search tab features two methods to locate authorized and available Grid sources:

You can toggle between an icon or map view to identify the physical location of Authorized and Available Grid sources.
You can also perform a keyword search to find sources based on their name, location, affiliation, and group.

Grid source thumbnail and map views

To toggle between a thumbnail or map view to identify Grid source physical locations, complete the following steps:

Click the Search tab. The Grid source thumbnail view displays by default.

To access the physical location of a Grid source, click the location icon in the upper right corner of the window.
To return to the thumbnail view, click the thumbnail icon to the left of the location icon.

The source location screen displays in the “Map” view by default, as shown below.

Map view controls

There are two map views to locate Grid sources and several navigation control features in the source location screen. You can choose between Map or Satellite view when you click the Map or Satellite buttons in the top left corner of the screen.

The number of available and authorized sources is displayed in the screen’s top-right corner. To display the map view in full-screen mode, click the full-screen frame icon, as shown below.

The location screen features the following navigation tools located at the top center area of the screen:

Using the navigation tools

The circle and rectangle tools have the same functionality. They are available to assist in identifying Grid sources available in specific demographic locations.

Circle tool

To use the circle tool, complete the following steps:

Select the Circle tool.
Draw a circle on the map.
Click the circle. The thumbnail view window opens, displaying only the Grid sources within your defined area.
To return to the location screen, click the location icon.

Rectangle tool

To use the rectangle tool, complete the following steps:

Select the Rectangle tool.
Draw a rectangular area on the map.
Click the rectangle. The thumbnail view window opens, displaying only the Grid sources within your defined area.
To return to the location screen, click the location icon.

Hand tool

To use the hand tool, click the map and hold the mouse button down. Then, move the mouse to scroll to a specific area on the map.

Pegman tool

The Pegman tool provides a street view of a Grid source location. To use the Pegman tool, complete the following steps:

Click to select the Pegman tool.
Hold the mouse down, drag the Pegman to a source location on the map, and release the mouse button. The Street View window opens.
The location description displays in the top left corner of the screen. If desired, click View on Google Maps or exit the screen by clicking the left arrow.

Advanced Grid source keyword search

You can use a keyword search to find ‘Authorized’ Grid sources you can access and control. In addition, you can also search for and request access to ‘Available’ Grid sources that you are not currently authorized to use.

To locate a Grid source by name, affiliation, location, or group, complete the following steps:

Click the Search tab. Locate the search field directly under the Search tab.
Use one of the following methods to perform your keyword search:

Enter a keyword in the search field and click the Search icon.
Click the search field drop-down menu and select All, Location, Affiliation, or Group. Then, click the Search icon.

Requesting access to a Grid source

To search for and request access to ‘Available’ Grid sources from the Search tab you are not currently authorized to use, locate a Grid source using one of the search methods explained in “Grid source keyword search.”

To request a Grid source, complete the following steps:

Request access to a Grid source; click the Request button below the desired source thumbnail. The Request for Grid Source pop-up dialog displays.

Enter your contact information in the fields provided and a request note in the “Note” field, and click the Send button.

The Grid source owner will then be notified about your request and can accept, deny, or delete your request.

Request access to Grid sources by using a Grid Token Code

You can also obtain and enter a Grid Token code to access available Grid sources. Grid Tokens are created by Grid source owners and can contain one or multiple Grid sources. Grid source owners can also configure the Grid sources to be available to you temporarily or permanently.

To add a Grid source using a Grid Token code, you must first send a request to the Grid source owner. To add a Grid Token complete the following steps:

Click the Grid > My Requests tab. Then, click the +Add Grid Token button. The Add Grid Token pop-up displays.

In the Add Grid Token pop-up, enter the Grid Token code, a short message in the Introduce yourself field to the Grid Token owner, and select the receivers from the drop-down menu to which you’d like the Grid sources added.

After you have added a Grid Token code information, click Send. The Grid source owner will be notified and must accept your request to add the sources to your receivers.
To view the status of all Direct and Grid Token requests and other features, continue with “My Requests tab.”

My Requests tab

The My Requests tab allows you to:

Add Grid sources using a Grid Token code.
View all direct requests and Grid Token access requests
Control Grid sources that you have been granted access to using the Direct Request and Grid Token features
Manage your Direct request and Grid Token access requests

Adding Grid sources using a Grid Token code

This procedure can also be performed using the Search tab and is explained in “Request access to Grid sources by using a Grid Token code.”

View direct requests and Grid Token access requests

The My Requests tab lets the user view the operation and status of Direct and Grid Token requests.

To view Direct and Grid Token access status, complete the following steps:

Click the Grid > My Requests tab. The top left menu bar displays a “Request sent” set of numbers when a request is sent. The first digit indicates the number of requests sent, and the orange number indicates the number of “Pending” requests, as shown below.

Choose a Direct request or Via Grid Token method. Then choose a filter method from the All drop-down menu. The request status displays.

Control Direct Request and Grid Token sources

The Direct Request and Grid Token features allow you to control the sources you have been granted access to. When a source status displays Accepted, the Control operation button can be selected to go live with a Grid source.

Manage Direct and Grid Token requests

The Direct Request and Grid Token features allow you to manage Grid sources you have been granted access to. When a source status displays ‘Accepted’ the operation buttons can be selected to Control, Cancel, or Delete a source.

Contribute tab

The Grid tab > Contribute tab page allows you to manage how your Grid source(s) appear to others searching for content. In addition, the requests you have received for Grid source access display in the right pane. Received requests can also be filtered using the All drop-down menu or by a keyword search.

All Direct Request and Grid Token access request activity triggers notification bugs will be visible to Grid tab users in the respective areas of activity (e.g., When a user sends a Direct Request for access to a Grid source, the Grid source owner will see a notification bug in their Grid tab > Contribute tab >My Grid tab in the left panel and will also receive an automated email about the request to the email address specified in the My Contact Details tab.

When you click the Contribute tab, the My Grid and Token tabs display in the left panel.

My Grid tab

When you click the Grid tab > Contribute tab > My Grid, any Grid sources paired to your TVU Command Center account and given ownership rights by TVU Support or your account administrator will display in the left panel.

The My Grid tab has the following functions:

(1) Configure whether your Grid source’s thumbnail is visible, blurred, or hidden to others searching for content.

(2) Configure a description of your Grid source.

(3) Configure location information about your Grid source.

(4) Configure whether the description and location info you’ve configured is visible or hidden to other users searching for content.

Manage how your Grid sources display

To manage how your Grid source(s) thumbnail displays complete the following steps:

In the My Grid panel, locate the Grid source you want to configure. Then, click the menu icon located after the source name.
Select a visibility setting from the drop-down menu.

Configure your Grid source description

Your Grid source description can be changed or configured to be visible or invisible to others.

To configure your Grid source(s) description, complete the following steps:

In the My Grid pane, locate the Grid source you want to configure. Then, click the Source description.

The edit description pop-up window displays.

To enter a new description, click the description field, type a new description, and click Save.
To change the description visibility setting, click the green eye icon to the right of the description field.

Alternatively, you can change the description visibility setting from the My Grid pane by clicking the green eye icon to the right of the description information.

Configure your Grid source location information

Your Grid source location can be set and configured to be visible or invisible to others.

To configure your Grid source(s) location, complete the following steps:

In the My Grid pane, locate the Grid source you want to configure. Then, click the Source location.

The Enter the location pop-up window displays.

To enter a new location, click the location field, type a new address, and click Save.
To change the description visibility setting, click the green eye icon to the right of the address field.

Alternatively, you can change the location visibility setting from the My Grid pane by clicking the green eye icon to the right of the location description.

Manage incoming requests for Direct Request access

The Contribute > My Grid tab displays a list of received requests in the right pane in the following example.

Direct Requests for access can be accepted, denied, or deleted from this screen, as shown below.

Grid Tokens

The Grid tab in the left panel allows you to create Grid Tokens and manage requested access to your Grid sources.

Create Tokens for Grid sources

To create Grid Tokens, complete the following steps:

Click the Grid tab. In the top navigation, click the Contribute tab. Then, click Token in the left panel.

Click the Create Grid Token button. The Create Token pop-up displays:

Name the Token.
To configure a temporary Token Start Time and End Time, click the Temporary radio button. Click the Permanent radio button to configure a Token without an expiration time.
In the Available list, select and click Add to move any number of your Grid sources to a Token. Then, click Create.

Send Token Code Email notifications

The Token tab displays. To share the token code with others for pairing with the device, click the Send Code To Email button.

Manage Grid Token access requests

You can manage each incoming Grid Token access request from the Token tab.

After sending the Token code, the receiver displays in the receiver list.

You can now select a request from the receiver list and Accept, Deny, Delete, or Mark it as expired using the buttons above the receiver list as follows:

Click Accept to accept requests to add your Grid Token’s Grid sources to other receivers.
Click Deny to deny requests to add your Grid Token’s Grid sources to the receivers.
Click Delete to delete requests.
Click Mark as expired to mark requests as expired.

Schedule tab

The Grid tab > Schedule tab allows users to create a Grid source schedule by Month, Week, or Day. Import a source event schedule from your local drive and download your slug information to your local drive.

To create a Grid source schedule, complete the following steps:

Click the Schedule tab. The Schedule calendar displays.
Select a source from the left Destination panel. You can also search for a PID or Name in the Search field.

In the event schedule, click a date and time slot. The Source window displays.

Enter a Source Title and select a color for your entry from the drop-down menu.
The start time defaults to the time slot you selected in Step 2. Click the stop time field and choose a time from the pop-up calendar.
Click the OK button. If you click the Now button, the current time displays.
In the Does not repeat drop-down menu, make a selection.
Enter the Reporter and Story Slug you would like to display.
When finished, click the Save button.
Click the import (page) icon to import a source event schedule.

The Import source event schedule window displays.

Select a source from the drop-down menu or a file from your local drive in the Import source event schedule window.
When finished, click the Import button.
To download the event slug information in xls format, click the download icon next to the Import icon.

Glossary

Activity notifications

When the Grid source owner accepts, denies, or deletes the Grid source, the requesting Grid user will see a notification bug in their “My Requests” tab and also receive an email notification to the email address specified in the “My Contact Details” tab. These activity notifications also apply to Grid Token requests.

Authorized Grid sources

An ‘Authorized’ Grid source is a source that is available on the TVU Grid, and to which the user and TVU Server have permission to go Live with.
Traditional TVU Grid sources that are manually paired to your account by TVU support or your administrator are also ‘‘Authorized’ sources.

Available Grid sources

A Grid source that can be searched but requires authorization from the Grid owner to use.

Contribute tab

The Contribute tab includes the My Grid and Token tabs. These tabs allow you to manage the visible profile of your Grid sources and perform the tasks from the My Grid and Token tabs.

Direct request

If a user wants access to an ‘Available’ Grid source, a direct request for access can be requested by clicking ‘Request’ on the Grid source thumbnail.

Grid-enabled receiver

This term refers to a TVU server with an active Grid software license.

Grid-enabled server

See ‘Grid-enabled receiver’.

Grid software

The Grid Premium software service license is required on any TVU server to send or receive video by way of TVU Grid.

Grid source

A Grid source is a video source originating from a TVU server accessible to other TVU servers by way of TVU Grid.

Grid source owner

Grid source users that have been granted active ownership rights by TVU support or an account administrator.

Grid Token

See Grid Token code.

Grid Token access request

A request to the Grid source owner to enable access to an available Grid source by using a Grid Token code. The Token code is generated and shared by the Grid source owner with the requestor.

Grid Token code

Grid source owners can create Grid Token codes from the Grid > Contribute >Token tab to enable and manage a request to access their Grid sources.

My Contact Details tab

Use this tab to enter your personal contact information, which is used to receive Grid source requests and notifications.

My Grid tab

Use this tab to manage your Grid sources display settings and direct requests for access.

My Request tab

The Grid > My Requests tab allows a user to view and manage all of your Direct Request and Grid Token access requests.

Pack

A Pack Grid source is a video feed that originated from a TVU transmitter (TVU One, TVU Anywhere, etc.) and is re-encoded by the receiving TVU server to be made accessible to other TVU servers by way of TVU Grid.

Search tab

The Grid > Search tab allows you to filter your Grid source keyword search based on name, location, affiliation, and group.

SDI

An SDI Grid source is a video feed connected directly to a TVU server’s SDI input and encoded to be accessible to other TVU servers via TVU Grid. Every source displayed in the Grid tab is a Grid source.

Tier 1 functionality

Search for and control your ‘Authorized’ Grid sources.

Tier 2 functionality

Search for and control your ‘Authorized’ Grid sources. Manage access to your Grid sources.

Tier 3 functionality

TVU Command Center File-Based Workflows User Guide

This companion user guide supplements the TVU Command Center User Guide.

Overview

This guide explains how to use the File Management, Live, Record, and Transcriber mode operations in the TVU Command Center Advanced control pages’ Data transmission panel.

Sign in to Command Center

To Sign in to Command Center, complete the following procedure:

Launch Command Center and authenticate your account; Enter your Email and Password or use an SSO method.
Click Sign In.

The Command Center Route page displays.

Receiver selection menu

The Command Center Receiver Control page displays receivers paired to a user’s Command Center account.

In the top-left navigation, click the Sources drop-down menu and select Receivers.

The Receiver Control window page opens.

The receiver thumbnail has elements that should already be familiar to you, such as the receiver name, source selection drop-down, and the Take (Live) button. A new addition to the source thumbnail block is the memo text box and Advanced icon.

The Advanced icon is below the source thumbnail block window on the receiver control page.

Click the Advanced icon to open the Advanced Control page for a specific receiver.

The Live, Record, and Transcriber tabs are in the Advanced Control page data transmission panel, as shown below.

Data transmission panel – Live, record, and Transcriber mode tabs

The data transmission panel’s Live, Record, and Transcriber tabs control different modes of operation:

(1) Live mode: The Live mode is the primary interface used during a Live transmission. When the Live tab is selected, the Bitrate, Delay, and Operational Mode buttons display. In addition, the status of each of the data card network connections is displayed in the data card panel.

(2) Record mode: The Record mode displays the store and forward interface that allows users to preview, download, and manage TVU Transmitter stored footage and files transferred via Auto Sync. Files transferred via FTP can also be accessed via this interface.

(3) Transcriber mode: Click the transcription tab to display transcribed text when enabled. The captions.txt file can be accessed in the File Browser interface.

Record mode operations

The Record tab displays recorded content timelines and file management operations.

Record mode

Whenever a video source is connected, the TVU transmitter automatically creates a new recording on its internal SSD in a FIFO loop. Each recorded clip is displayed in the Recorded content timeline in the Record tab.

This recording utilizes two separate encoders that are used for the Live transmission. This ensures that a high-quality version of the content (whether Live or not Live) is available.

Recorded content panel

The recorded content panel has the following controls and functions:

(1) Recorded content timeline: The timeline displays clips initiated by date.

(2) Number of clips indicator: The green-circled numbers next to the date indicate the number of clips available. Refer to the recorded content timeline as shown below.

(3) Clip thumbnails: Thumbnails of selected clips are displayed below the recorded timeline. The start time for the clip also displays below the thumbnail. The currently selected clip is outlined in blue.

(4) Clip duration: When you highlight a thumbnail, its start and end times appear in the left column below the “Download All” button.

(5) Clip extraction timeline: A thumbnail of an extracted clip displays and can be edited in the clip extraction timeline.

(6) Clip scrub bar: Thumbnails by frame of a selected clip can be marked by sliding the white beginning and ending markers on the green clip scrub bar.

After a clip is scrubbed, the user can preview the clip by pressing the Preview button, which initiates a live transmission of the clip.

Click the Download button to transfer the clip to the File Management panel. The download status displays in the Download tab records list during the download.

File Management panel

The File Management panel has the following controls and functions:

(1) File Management panel: The File Management panel provides the controls to view, delete, download, and export stored data.

(2) Download tab: The download tab displays clips downloaded from a TVU transmitter. After a clip status displays 100% downloaded, the stored data can be viewed, deleted, or exported using the playout and control functions within the File Management panel.

Note: A file may be played before the transfer operation completes.

(3) FTP tab: The FTP tab displays files uploaded from an FTP client. The stored data can be played or deleted after a clip status displays 100% uploaded.

(4) Record list: The record list in the download tab displays clips downloaded from the recorded content panel.

(5) Playout and download controls: After a clip has completed the download process, the stored data can be viewed, deleted, downloaded, or exported using the playout and control functions.

Preview, mark, and download stored data

To preview, mark, and download recorded transmission, complete the following steps:

Click the Record tab in the data transmission panel to open the Recorded content panel.
If the TVU Pack is in Live mode, select Stop in the source panel’s top right corner. This will stop the live transmission and change the status to standby.

The system is now ready to manage the stored data. The downloaded, stored data is paused if you need to return to live mode. The download process will resume when the live transmission is stopped again.

Review the recorded content timeline. Select the desired clip from the green numbered clip indicators.

Locate the green scrub bar (1) in the “Recorded content panel.” Slide the left start cursor to the start of the time selected (Mark in).
Slide the end cursor to the end of the time selected (Mark out). After a few moments, the system will generate thumbnails of the in and out points.

After completing the mark-in and mark-out points, click the Download button.

Refer to the File Management panel Download tab to see the download status. Ensure the file download status displays 100%.

File management – Pause, play, delete, and convert stored data

The File Management panel Download tab displays a list of clips downloaded from the recorded content timeline. The File Management panel allows users to pause, play, delete, and convert recorded content.

Pause and resume a file download

Complete the following steps to pause and resume the download process of stored data:

Before the download completes, select the file and click the Stop button to pause the download.

Click the Download button to resume the download of the file to your local drive.

Play a file

Complete the following steps to play stored data from the File Management panel:

Select the file from the file list and click the Play button to play a file.

To stop the file from playing, click the Stop button.

Delete a file

Complete the following steps to delete stored data from the File Management panel:

Select the file from the file list and click the Delete button to delete a file.

Click the Delete All button to delete all files in the file list.

Exporting a file

Complete the following steps to export stored content into the TS or MOV file format:

To export stored content, click the green arrows to open the export menu.

Click the TS drop-down menu and select an Export format.

Click the Save As field and enter a name for the file export. Click the Export button to download the video on the TVU transmitter to the receiver.

The file transfer is complete and ready to be played out after the “Completed” column export status reaches 100%.

By default, the file is written to a local storage directory where the last characters are the unique PID of the TVU Pack. On a receiver paired with multiple packs, there will be one folder for each paired pack.

Accessing downloaded files from the local storage directory

To access the downloaded files and recordings on the receiver:

Open the Advanced Control page.
Click the Setting gear in the top-right panel.
Select File Browser.

The File Browser Root file directory displays.

Click the My files folder.

Complete the following steps to access your downloaded content from the File Browser page:

Click Settings > File Browser n the Command Center user interface top-right panel to open the File Browser Root file directory.

Open the nginx folder and select the Receiver folder name.

Click the download folder to display the Packs’ unique PID folder(s).

Click the Packs’ PID folder to display the downloaded file(s).

Select the file(s) you want to download.

Click the Download icon in the top-right corner of the page. You can select and download multiple files at one time. The number of downloaded files is displayed in a blue circle next to the download icon.

When finished, close the window.

FTP upload service

The FTP upload service allows users to automatically copy downloaded files from the TVU receiver to an FTP receiver.

To access the FTP upload service, click Settings in the Command Center user interface and select Remote File Storage.

The Remote File Storage window opens.

Click the Destination Management icon in the top-right corner.
Click the Add button in the top Destination Management panel.

Enter the following information into the Destination List panel:

Enter a Destination Name
Enter a Host IP address
Enter your User Name
Enter your Password

Click Save. Your FTP destination is now configured.

From this point onward, all downloaded content from TVU transmitters and content uploaded via the AutoSync feature will be copied to your FTP destination.

Product overview

The Grid token is a feature accessible within the TVU Command Center User Interface (UI). The TVU Grid Token feature allows an operator to perform automatic Grid source pairing without the intervention of TVU Support. To use the token feature requires a Grid token license activation from TVU Support.

Before you begin

Contact TVU Support at support@tvunetworks.com to activate your account’s TVU Command Center token feature. There are two token features available:

Grid token
TVU Anywhere token – Refer to the “TVU Anywhere Token Quick Start User Guide” for detailed information.

Activating the TVU Command Center Grid token feature

Activating the token feature allows an operator to create a token with a Grid source to pair registered receivers using the Command Center UI.

Sign in to Command Center

To Sign in to Command Center, complete the following procedure:

Launch Command Center and authenticate your account; Enter your Email and Password or use an SSO method.
Click Sign In.

The Command Center UI displays.

Creating a Grid token:

The Grid > Contribute tab allows you to create Grid Tokens, manage access to your Grid sources, and perform the following tasks:

Create Grid Tokens for Grid sources.
Name the Token.
Configure the Token’s temporary start and end time or make it permanently available.
Add any number of your Grid sources to a Token.
Send Token Code Email notifications.

Manage Grid Token Requests from other users:

Accept requests to add your Grid Token’s Grid sources to other receivers.
Deny requests to add your Grid Token’s Grid sources to the receivers.
Delete requests.

Grid Source owner:

Before you begin, contact TVU Support to give you ownership of your sources.

To create a TVU Grid token, complete the following steps:

Click the Grid tab in the left main navigation pane.

Click the Contribute tab.

Click the Token tertiary tab to display the Create Grid Token button.

Click Create Grid Token.

The Create Token pop-up window displays.

In the token Name field, Enter a Token Name.
Choose a Permanent or Temporary expiration setting. If you select Permanent, you will continue with step 13. If you select Temporary, continue to step 7.

To set the token Start Time, click the Calendar icon in the Start Time field.
Select a month and year from the pop-up calendar. Then, select a date.

In the right field, enter a start time from the pop-up window and click OK.

To set the token End Time, click the End Time field. Select a date.
Select an expiration time from the pop-up calendar.
Click OK.
If your source does not display in the Available List, place your cursor into the “Grid Source List” search field and Enter the Grid source name/PID, or enter the first 4 digits of the PID and click the Search icon to select the available receiver.

Click to highlight the Grid source name/PID in the Available List and click the Add> button.

Note: You may add more than one available grid source to your list from the Create token pop-up window if desired by repeating steps 4 through 13.

The source(s) is now added to the “Selected list” as a new token. Click the Create button to save your changes and close the window.

The Token tab displays your new token information. Your list of tokens display in the left panel below the token tab.

The token code displays under the TVU logo. The token Name and Expiration Time settings display next to the token code.

Verify that the information is correct. To edit the token information, continue to “Editing a token.” Otherwise, Continue with “Pairing the Grid source tokens.”

Editing a Token

To edit the token information, complete the following steps:

To delete the token, click the red Delete icon and confirm your action.
To edit the token information, click the green Edit icon.

Note: Users can edit existing tokens at anytime, even after the token has been accepted. Changes take effect automatically.

The Edit Token pop-up allows users to:

Add and remove a Grid source(s)
Delete a Grid source
Update the token name
Update the token expiration date and time

Complete your edits and click Save. Then, close the pop-up window.

Pairing Grid source tokens

Complete the following steps to share a token code with others and for pairing Grid sources. The Grid source must be available to select from the Token tab list:

Click the Grid tab in the main left navigation panel.

The token Search page displays.

Click the Contribute tab. Then, click the Token tab to display the Grid sources.

The token code displays under the TVU logo.

Click the Send code to email button. The email window opens. Enter the user’s email address in the “To” field, enter any message in the email text field if desired, and click Send.

User request for token acceptance

To request access to the token, complete the following steps:

The user will receive the token code from the token owner via email.
Open Command Center and click the Route tab. Then, click the plus “+” icon to add an external source.

The Add External Source dialog displays.

Select the Grid Token from the “Type” drop-down menu. Enter the token code you received in the Token Code field.
Enter a name to identify yourself in the “Introduce yourself” field.
Click the ”Select which receivers …” field, and choose the receiver(s) you want to pair to from the drop-down menu selections.

Click Save.

Grid source owner – Accepting the Token request

Before the Grid source can go live, The token owner must then “Accept” the token in the device list. To perform this function, complete the following steps:

Click the Command Center Grid tab and the Contribute tab. Then, click Token in the left panel.

The device panel displays a list of devices from the user in “Pending” status. An orange bubble displays in the left panel to indicate a pending request notification.

Select the receiver(s) you want to accept. Then, click the Accept button to accept the token. Additionally, you also have the option to delete or deny a token.

After the access request is received, the Grid source owner can manage the access request from the Command Center Grid tab.

After the request is accepted, the recipient can go Live with the Grid Token source (during the Token valid time period set by the administrator).

Token viewing after acceptance

After the token is accepted, the user can view the source(s) in the Route > Sources tab.

A token source will display a “T” symbol below the source preview.

The TVU Anywhere Token feature is accessible within the TVU Command Center user interface. The Token feature allows you to perform automatic receiver pairing without the intervention of TVU Support.

Introduction, setup, and operation

This Quick Start guide provides instructions to complete the following tasks:

Activating the TVU Command Center token feature
Creating a TVU Anywhere token
Accepting a token using the TVU Anywhere app
Editing device information
Delete or deny a token request
Creating a hotspot connection to a TVU Pack

Product overview

The token is a feature accessible within the TVU Command Center User Interface. The TVU Token feature allows an operator to perform automatic receiver pairing without the intervention of TVU Support. To use the token feature requires a token license activation from TVU Support.

Self-service administration – Token creation and receiver pairing can be performed by the user.
Define a single token for a single user – The token feature allows an operator to create a single token defined by date and time for a TVU Anywhere user.
Define a single token for multiple users – The token feature allows an operator to create a single TVU Anywhere token defined by date and time for multiple users.
Send code to email feature – The token feature allows an operator to send a token code to an email address from the Command Center console for remote usage.
Administrative features – A user can accept, reject, or deny access to a token request.
Integrates with TVU Anywhere – When the token feature is activated, the TVU Anywhere app. is used in the field to pair a hotspot with a receiver without TVU support intervention.

Main navigation tabs

There are four navigational tabs in the Command Center user interface left panel. They include Route, Monitor, Grid, and Token. In this User Guide, we will use the Token tab to create TVU Anywhere tokens.

Refer to the TVU Grid Token Quick Start User Guide for information about creating Grid Tokens.

TVU Command Center’s robust cloud-based toolset comes with the following features:

Route tab:

The Route tab displays paired receivers and available sources. The user can select one or more servers and go live with available sources from this tab. Sources can be displayed by status, bookmark, type, and by name or which source was online first. Refer to the TVU Command Center User Guide for detailed information about the Route tab operations and features.

Monitor tab:

The Monitor tab allows users to watch full-motion live videos of their current live servers. Users can listen to the output audio, full-screen individual windows, and use VoIP controls to communicate with each server’s TVU Pack.

Grid tab:

The new TVU Grid for Command Center features form part of a three-tiered service allowing TVU Command Center account owners to access and manage Grid sources outside their traditional organizational boundaries. This new Grid service uses the expanded Command Center user interface to search for, request, and go live with these sources.

Token tab:

The TVU Anywhere app integrates with the token feature, allowing an operator to perform automatic receiver pairing without the intervention of TVU Support.
Chat feature – Contact the TVU Support team via chat within the new Command Center user interface.
Alert icon – TVU Command Center Alert feature allows users to send alerts about sources or receivers to other Command Center accounts with access to those devices.
Setting icon – Access to all features and system settings that are enabled display in the Setting menu.
Social Accounts tab – The TVU Share feature enables users to share or publish a source directly to a social media account or website.
User preferences – Full control of TVU receivers, including Geo-locate, a GPS-based map view of all powered TVU transmitters.

Before you begin

Contact TVU Support at support@tvunetworks.com to activate your account’s TVU Command Center token feature. There are two token features available:

TVU Anywhere token
TVU Grid token – Refer to the TVU Grid Token Quick Start User Guide for detailed information.

Activating the TVU Command Center Anywhere token feature

Activating the token feature allows an operator to create a token with the TVU Anywhere app to pair registered receivers using the Command Center UI. For more information about the TVU Anywhere app features and usage, refer to the TVU Anywhere Quick Start User Guide.

Sign in to Command Center

To Sign in to Command Center, complete the following procedure:

Launch Command Center and authenticate your account; Enter your Email and Password or use an SSO method.
Click Sign In.

The Command Center UI displays.

Creating a TVU Anywhere Token:

To create a TVU Anywhere Token, complete the following steps:

Click the Token tab in the left navigation panel.

Click the Plus + icon in the Token tab Device panel.

The Create Token pop-up displays, showing TVU Anywhere as the token type.

In the Token Name field, Enter a Token Name.

To set the token Expire Time, click the Calendar icon.
Select a date from the pop-up calendar.
Select a Time. Then, click OK to confirm both the time and date windows.

If your receiver does not display in the PID list, place your cursor into the “Available List” field and Enter the Receiver PID, or enter the first 3 to 4 digits of the PID and click the Search icon to select the available receiver.

Select the receiver in the available list and click the > button to move it to the Selected list.

Note: You may add more than one available receiver to your list from the Create Token pop-up window if desired.

The receiver is now added to the “Selected list” as a new token. Click the Save button to save your changes and close the window.

The Token tab displays your new token information. Your receiver displays in the “Selected List,” and the token code displays under the QR code as shown in the “Command Center Receiver list.”

The token name and your Expire Time settings also display next to the token code.

Verify that the information is correct. If you need to edit the token information, continue to “Editing device information before accepting the token code.” Otherwise, Continue with Accepting the token using the TVU Anywhere app.

Editing device information before accepting the token code.

To edit the device information before accepting the token code, complete the following steps:

To delete the token and all paired devices, click the red Trash icon. Then, click OK to confirm.

To edit the token information, click the green Edit icon.

Note: Users can edit existing tokens at any time, even after the token has been accepted or input into the TVU Anywhere app. Changes take effect automatically.

The Edit Token pop-up displays. The Edit token pop-up allows you to:

Add and remove a receiver
Update the token name
Update the token expiration date and time

Complete your edits and click Save. Then, close the pop-up window.
The next step is to add your receivers to the Device List for acceptance. To perform this function, you must scan or input the token code to pair it with the receiver(s). There are two methods available for performing this function. Continue with Accepting the token using the TVU Anywhere app to choose a method.

Sharing a Token

To share a Token with another Command Center account user, complete the following steps:

Click the Share icon to share a token with another account user.

Enter the User account and click Save.

Accepting the Token using the TVU Anywhere app

Use one of the following two methods for accepting your token code using the TVU Anywhere app:

Using the TVU Anywhere app Scan function
Using the TVU Anywhere app manual entry screen

Scanning the Token code

To accept a token using the TVU Anywhere app scan method, complete the following steps:

Click the Command Center Token tab in the main navigation. The empty device list and token code display.

Open your TVU Anywhere app. and click the Scan icon.

The Scan Screen displays.

Enter the optional Phone number and Introduction information if desired, and click Next.
Place the app over the token code, centering it over the green frame. The app will automatically capture the QR code.

Your device now displays in the Device list with an orange “Pending” status.

Click the checkbox to select the device name. Then, click the Accept button to enable the device.

The device status changes from “Pending” to “Accepted.”

Manually entering a Token code in the TVU Anywhere app

To manually enter the token code, complete the following steps:

Obtain the Token code.
Open the TVU Anywhere app and click the Scan icon in the function bar.

Enter the optional Phone number and Introduction information if desired, and click Next.

press the green Enter 123 icon at the bottom of the screen.

Tap the license field and enter the token code using the keypad. Then, click Apply.

A “Success” message briefly displays to confirm the pairing. Click the < icon at the top of the function bar to return to the main screen.
Click the Live icon in the function bar to go Live.

Accepting a printed or email Token code

To manually accept a printed or email token code using the TVU Anywhere app, complete the following steps:

Obtain the token code. You can print and scan an active token code or request that a token code be emailed to you from the Command Center Token tab screen.
If you receive the token code via email, you can click or scan the QR code as shown below.

To Scan the token code, open your TVU Anywhere app and click the Scan icon in the function bar.

Enter the optional Phone number and Introduction information if desired, and click Next.

Place the app over the token code centering it over the green frame. The app will automatically capture the QR code.

A “Success” message briefly displays to confirm the pairing. Click the << icon in the function bar to return to the main screen.
Click the Live icon in the function bar to go Live.

Deny or delete a device entry

The Command Center Token tab device list contains the receivers paired with a token code. The status of the receivers in your device list can be changed under the “Device List” heading. The actions that can be taken are Accept, Deny, Delete, and Mark as expired.

Device actions and status descriptions:

Click the “Action” you desire.

When you click “Accept,” your device status will change from “Pending” to “Accepted.”
When you click “Deny,” your device stays in the device list with a “Denied” status and can be changed to “Accepted” at any time.
When you click “Delete,” you will receive the pop-up message “Are you sure you want to remove it?” confirm your request by clicking OK or Cancel. If you click OK, your device is removed from the device list.
When you click “Mark as expired,” The token code is no longer active and displays in the device list as “expired.”

Device Expiration setting

If a device has passed the selected expiration settings, the token code will display an Expired notification on top of the QR code, as shown below.

In the Device List, the expired token displays the device status as “Expired ” shown in “Expired token; Device list.”

Edit Token expiration settings

To edit the device date and time settings, click the green Edit icon and make changes in the Edit Token pop-up window.

Edit a device name

To change your device name, click the Edit Device link in the device list Operations column.

The Edit Device Name window displays.

Enter a preferred device name and click Save.

Note: To create a hotspot connection to a TVU Pack, refer to the latest TVU One FHD and 4K SW User Guide.

How to use voice over IP (VoIP) with the TVU Anywhere app

Use the Command Center user interface to pair a device that has the TVU Anywhere app. running (smartphone, tablet, computer) to allow talkback between the studio and field operator using their smart device.

In the Command Center My Sources tab, pair the field operator’s TVU Anywhere device and take it to Live.
Click the phone icon in the source window. When the phone icon turns red , TVU Voice is enabled.

The field operator’s TVU Anywhere app displays a red TVU Voice icon in the top left corner of the screen. The field operator and studio can now communicate with each other.

To stop TVU Voice, click the red phone icon in the source window again. When the phone icon displays black TVU Voice is disabled, and communication stops.
If you are using the Advanced Control tab in Command Center or the transceiver interface, select your source and take it to Live.
Click the green VoIP icon in the source window below the thumbnail. When TVU Voice is enabled, the VoIP icon displays red.
To stop TVU Voice, click the red VoIP icon in the source window again. When the VoIP icon displays green TVU Voice is disabled, and communication stops.

How to use token pairing with TVU Anywhere

A Token comes in the form of a numeric or QR code, generated by your TVU system administrator and provided to you. Entering this Token code will automatically pair your device with the appropriate TVU output receivers. Below are the instructions to scan the QR code.

Obtain the Token code from your administrator.
Open your TVU Anywhere app. Then, press the scan icon in the receiver bar.
Enter the optional information in the top two fields if desired. Then, press Next.
The Scan screen displays. Press the scan icon at the bottom of the scan screen.
Center the Token QR code within the green frame. After the app reads the QR code, a “Success” message displays.
Wait for your system administrator to approve your code. Once approved, you are ready to go Live.
To go Live, press the Live button in the right panel.

NOTE: There is a limit of 50 devices that can be used for each token QR code.

NOTE: The Token feature is supported on the following Apple devices: iPhone XS, XR, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max and iPad Pro 3rd and 4th generations.

Obtain the Token code from your administrator.
Open your TVU Anywhere app. Then, press the scan icon iin the receiver bar.
Enter your phone number and introduction information in the fields at the top of the screen. This step is optional but highly recommended. Then, press Next.
The Scan screen displays. Press the scan 123 icon at the bottom of the scan screen.
Enter your numeric Token code in the license field and press Apply.
After the app reads the QR code, a “Success” pop-up displays
Wait for your system administrator to approve your code. Once approved, you are ready to go Live.
To go Live, press the Live button in the right panel.

Automatically synchronize a paired TVU Anywhere source along with your other video sources with our remote production solution, TVU Producer.

How to add and pair a TVU Anywhere source in TVU Producer:

In Producer, click + Add source in the source window. The Add EXT IP Source pop-up displays.
Click Anywhere in the left menu.
If you need to pair your TVU Anywhere source, open the TVU Anywhere App and scan the displayed QR code.
Select a paired source from the ‘Add Anywhere Source’ list and click the button.
Your TVU Anywhere source displays in the Program window.
