TVU Partners with RTDNA to Bring Awards Ceremony to Online Viewers for Second Consecutive Year
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – September 8, 2016 – TVU Networks announces that the upcoming Excellence in Journalism (EIJ) event will feature a live streaming super session using its TVU One mobile uplink technology. The annual event will take place September 18-20 at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, and the conference session, “Honoring a Lifetime of Excellence in Journalism with Charlie Rose and Jeff Marks” will be streamed live to the Radio Television Digital News Association’s (RTDNA) Ustream channel in real-time and will be viewable on the RTDNA.org website.
The EIJ conference attracts top journalism professionals who are looking to implement new technologies, software products and journalism best practices in their newsrooms. This year’s event is a collaborative effort between the Society of Professional Journalists, the Radio Television Digital News Association and the Native American Journalists Association.
During the super session, held Monday, September 19 from 5-6:30 PM (CT), Charlie Rose, co-host of CBS This Morning and host of the PBS interview show Charlie Rose, will receive RTDNA’s prestigious Paul White Award – RTDNA’s highest honor, which recognizes an individual’s lifetime contributions to electronic journalism. During the event, Rose will remark on his more than 40-year career in journalism. Jeff Marks, former president and general manager of WDBJ7 and now director for talent development for Gray Television, will also receive an award during the session. Marks will be honored with the John F. Hogan Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes an individual’s contributions to the journalism profession and freedom of the press.
TVU Networks’ TVU One IP-based live video mobile uplink solution will be used to live stream the entire EIJ ceremony. The super session video will also be available for on-demand viewing on RTDNA’s website.
“We’ve relied on TVU transmission technology for past events, and are always very happy with the results,” said Mike Cavender, Executive Director, RTDNA. “With using TVU Networks equipment, we’re confident that our live streaming coverage will provide our audience with reliable and high quality video.”
