SAN DIEGO ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL to be broadcast live with TVU networks
(San Diego and Mountain View, CA – October 8, 2007) – The San Diego Asian Film Festival (SDAFF) returns for its 8th season, October 11-18, at the Hazard Center UltraStar Cinemas in Mission Valley, CA, where more than 15,000 patrons are expected to enjoy over 130 films from around the world. This year, for the first time, festival organizers are using Internet TV technology to expand their reach beyond the walls of the theatre.
Thanks to leading-edge technology from TVU networks, an online portal offering the capability to broadcast events live on the Internet, the San Diego Asian Film Festival will offer anyone with a broadband Internet connection the opportunity to experience part of the festival in real time.
"We are so excited to be the first film festival to partner with TVU networks. I have no doubt we will set a trend." says SDAFF executive director Lee Ann Kim. That sentiment is shared by TVU networks CEO Paul Shen, who states "The live Internet TV channels will capture and broadcast in real-time the excitement, diversity and cultural richness of the films and the festival. With our technology and the power of the Internet, the reach of SDAFF expands from local to global."
Among the anticipated events broadcast live on SDAFF's online channel will be:
- Live interviews on opening night with stars, cast, and crew of FINISHING THE GAME, including director Justin Lin and actors MC Hammer, James Franco, Sung Kang, Roger Fan, Dustin Nguyen, and Leonardo Nam
- Live coverage of the festival's awards program on Saturday, Oct 13
- Live discussion with George Takei, lifetime achievement honoree on Sunday, Oct 14
- Live daily commentary from video blogging correspondents
To access the channels, users can simply go to the film festival's website (www.sdaff.org) or TVU network's site (www.tvunetworks.com) where there will be links to the SDAFF event channels. Users will be able to watch the event content either on TVU's web site, or via the free downloadable TVUPlayer software. The event coverage will include trailers, the event schedule, and pre-recorded reports about the film festival.
