Teenage Professional Car Racer Devin O’Connell to Live Stream from Cockpit Directly to Facebook Live with TVU Networks

O’Connell’s Live Video Stream from Inside Moving Race Car Debuts During Claremont Speedway Race on June 2nd

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – May 25, 2017 – Throughout his career nineteen-year-old race car driver Devin O’Connell has broken through barriers. Diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome as a young child, Devin has championed the cause of Autism awareness while winning several titles, including: U.S. Legend Cars Semi-Pro Road Course World Champion, U.S. Legend Cars Semi Pro Asphalt National Champion, Stafford Motor Speedway U.S. Legend Cars Track Champion and the Allison Legacy Touring Series Champion.

At the upcoming Granite State Pro Stock Series at Claremont Speedway in New Hampshire, both Devin’s skill as a driver and the boundary-breaking technology involved in video-over-IP transmission will be showcased live online.

At the event, Devin’s super late model stock car will be outfitted with a TVU One mobile IP streaming newsgathering transmitter from TVU Networks – which enables high-quality video transmission from virtually anywhere, at anytime and under any circumstance, including a car racing at speeds of 185 miles per hour or more. Devin will live stream all of the action from his race car’s cockpit directly to Facebook Live using the TVU One transmitter. Video will be streamed to Facebook Live during Devin’s 100-lap race, which takes place on Friday, June 2nd.

Devin will continue to live stream the remainder of his 2017 season races to Facebook Live with the TVU One. TVU Networks is a sponsor of Devin’s throughout the 2017 racing season.

“We’re truly impressed with Devin’s accomplishments in the sport of racing at such a young age,” said Paul Shen, CEO, TVU Networks. “Being able to see Devin race from his cockpit in real-time is going to be an exciting event to watch. We are happy to support Devin’s efforts to give racing fans the opportunity to see what racing is like from his vantage point – whether they’re tuning into his Facebook Live from the stands at the race, or from their living room couch across the country.”

Devin O’Connell said, “I’m super excited to bring this technology into short track racing. I believe it will showcase racing in a positive way and bring new fans into the sport.”

Last year, Devin took the opportunity to make a big step up in his racing career as he began competing full-time on the American-Canadian Tour circuit. The young racer claimed the 2016 American Canadian Tour rookie-of-the-year honors last fall.

Diagnosed at the age of nine with Autism, Devin often publically speaks about how he has managed to turn his disability into a different type of ability. Early on, the environment at the track proved to be a great place for Devin to socialize with other kids who also loved to talk about racing and cars. These days, Devin likes to give back by telling his story and sharing what he has learned to inspire and give hope to others.

Latest IP Video Solutions from TVU Networks on Display at BroadcastAsia

IP-Based Video Ecosystem Includes Updates for Video Acquisition, Transmission, Production, Distribution and Social Media

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – May 23, 2017 – At the BroadcastAsia Exhibition & Conference this week, TVU Networks will highlight the latest developments in the company’s IP-based ecosystem of hardware and software products, workflows and services for live video acquisition, production, management and distribution. TVU’s new cloud-based solutions are designed to help broadcasters manage video content from anywhere from one interface.

TVU will show new solutions for the first time in Asia during the show. The company will demonstrate within its reseller’s booth, Singapore-based Magna Systems & Engineering, (Booth 4S3-05). BroadcastAsia is held at Suntec Singapore and runs from May 23-25.

The focus of the TVU ecosystem is more efficient broadcast operations through automation and integration of an IP-based software-defined video workflow. The TVU video ecosystem encompasses all areas of production, from acquisition to management to distribution.

Making their BroadcastAsia debut will be: the TVU One mobile cellular transmitter featuring HEVC compression; TVU Producer, a web-based application for producing live content for social media; version 3.0 of the company’s cloud-based centralized management solution, TVU Command Center; TVU integration with the Associated Press’ AP ENPS news production system; version 3.0 of TVU’s RPS (Remote Production System) for remote synchronized multi-camera production with frame accurate sync and new TVU Router, which delivers over 200Mbps of reliable, stable and high-speed Internet connectivity using a cellular infrastructure and mobile Internet access point.

TVU One with HEVC is the company’s flagship live mobile IP newsgathering transmitter that delivers high-quality IP video transmission. TVU One with HEVC cellular mobile solution uses both HEVC video compression and TVU’s patented Inverse Statmux Plus (IS+) transmission algorithm to transmit HD quality video with half-second latency. By utilizing the H.265 compression standard, TVU One uses less data and generates less overhead leading to lower operational costs while delivering even greater transmission reliability. TVU One with HEVC is available with embedded modems and can transmit simultaneously over multiple connections, including cellular, microwave, satellite, BGAN, WiFi, and Ethernet.

TVU Command Center provides complete and centralized control of all your video acquisition, production, management and distribution from anywhere using a web interface. Command Center features a robust set of tools for the management of live video transmitters and receivers, the switching, routing and distribution of live video feeds, GPS location tracking of live transmitters in the field, dashboard analytics and more. TVU Command Center also features integrated TVU Alert and TVU Producer.

TVU Producer was designed to allow anyone to produce professional quality live video for the web regardless of their level of experience. Running on the TVU Transceiver, TVU Producer enables broadcasters to easily produce live video content to major social media platforms. Producer is integrated with Facebook Live, YouTube Live and Periscope and features a simple, easy-to-use Web interface. With TVU Producer, a station’s digital producer can work within the same broadcast workflow as the traditional TV producer. Users can seamlessly switch between incoming TVU transmitter sources, SDI inputs and uploaded video slate sources, add a graphic overlay, and stream the produced output to different web-based platforms.

TVU offers an Open API for its family of video solutions, allowing broadcasters to take advantage of the benefits of software defined workflows. TVU’s Open API will integrate with other software platforms and supporting key workflow components, such as metadata and software automation. Several major partners have integrated with TVU’s Open API including Panasonic, Associated Press, Bitcentral and others.

TVU and the Associated Press (AP) have jointly developed an integrated newsroom video content acquisition workflow developed through a technology partnership and using TVU’s Open API. The new metadata-based workflow streamlines the direct linking of media content to specific news story assignments at the point of acquisition. The TVU Alert and AP ENPS integration automates and accelerates the transfer and ingest of the linked content to the studio and within newsroom production solutions. The new workflow is designed to improve the efficiency and speed of news content acquisition through automation and a reduction in the need for manual intervention, while also providing greater flexibility

TVU Router is a portable Internet access point that can provide over 200Mbps of secure, reliable, high-speed and untethered Internet connectivity at any time and from any place using a wireless cellular infrastructure. With Router, users can transfer and receive files, stream video, search the web, or utilize any IP connected device or service to pass data. For current TVUPack and TVU One customers, TVU Router is an available software option.

TVU Router supports Panasonic’s line of AVC-ULTRA camcorders and P2 Cast cloud-based news production system. Router significantly enhances the streaming capabilities of the AVC-ULTRA camcorders by creating a secure, reliable and high-speed broadband connection. TVU Router enables the AVC-ULTRA camcorders to stream live video or file-based live video over IP, which would prove challenging if not impossible, if the user relied solely on the camera’s remote streaming capabilities.

TVU’s Remote Production System (RPS) delivers a cost-effective alternative for live remote, synchronized, multi-camera news and sports production with frame accurate synchronization. RPS leverages a broadcaster’s existing studio control room staff, equipment, and a public Internet connection from the field. With TVU RPS, a broadcaster can achieve on-location live production without the need to deploy expensive production trucks, dedicated fiber or large on-site production crews.

TVU will also demonstrate TVU6 enhancements for TVU portable transmitters. TVU6 for TVU portable transmitters introduces several new features including Progressive Download. Progressive Download streamlines field production by sending at high-speed a mirror-image, error-free copy of the camcorders recorded content to the studio as it is being shot, greatly streamlining news acquisition. Also included is an all-new VoIP service running on TVU devices for high-quality, two-way communication between the studio and the field. TVU representatives can also discuss the optional SMPTE 2022-6/-7 high bit-rate IP output support through the TVU Transceiver for integration with advanced studio IP workflows.

TVU is introducing TVU Smart Caption. It is a technically advanced voice recognition solution that uses artificial intelligence for close-captioning.

Already in use by hundreds of leading broadcast organizations around the world, the TVU Networks family of IP transmission solutions give broadcasters and organizations a powerful and reliable tool to distribute live video content to broadcast, online and mobile platforms. The TVU Networks suite of solutions has been used to deliver professional-quality live HD footage of a number of important events around the world including the World Cup, both Summer and Winter Olympic Games, U.S. presidential elections, natural disasters, the 2013 Papal conclave, the Super Bowl, the 2015 Papal visit to the United States and several international sporting events.
